Rules and Regulations
The following are the rules, which apply to any person who participates ("Participant") in the Diversity Awards Competition ("the Competition") whether it be as a nominator ("Nominator") of a person or as such a nominee ("Nominee") as an entrant in the Competition. By submitting a nomination for the Competition, the Nominator shall be deemed to have accepted these rules.
- In the absence of the receipt by organisers of a statement in writing from a Nominee that he or she wishes to be removed from participation in the Competition, that Nominee shall be deemed to have accepted these rules.
- Nominations may be entered by completing the dedicated Application Form and returning it by the prescribed deadline date to the Irish Hospitality Institute, 8 Herbert Lane, Dublin 2.
- Entries will be shortlisted and selected by the independent panel of judges following a strict assessment process. The overall winner will be selected from this group
- The organisers reserve the right to confirm or amend the category for which a Nominee is nominated without notice.
- Details regarding the prize(s) for winners the award shall be at the sole discretion of the organisers.
- The organisers may at their sole discretion and without notice vary the process of selection of winners and the criteria considered in such selection.
- No person may nominate himself or herself as a Nominee.
- Nominations shall only be considered on the basis of a completed nomination form as prepared by the organisers for the purposes of the Competition.
- In choosing either the winners of each category or the overall winner of the Competition, no information shall be considered by the judges other than that contained in a completed nomination form or derived from any background research on the Nominee, which may be carried out by the Organisers. The Organisers will comply with the provisions of the Data Protection Act, 1988 as amended regarding all such information. Any representation to the judges regarding a Nominee, other than the submission of a completed nomination form, shall result in the immediate disqualification of both that Nominee and the relevant Nominator from the Competition.
- The decision of the judges in relation to the winner of each category and the overall winner of the Competition and in relation to the interpretation and application of these rules shall be final and no correspondence or discussion shall be entered into with any Participant regarding same.

- All discussions or meetings conducted by the judges concerning the Competition shall be private and confidential and the details thereof shall not be made available to any Participant and shall not be subject to disclosure pursuant to the terms of the Freedom of Information Act, 1997.
- The organisers shall bear no liability to any Participant for the inability, temporary or otherwise, to hold the Competition for whatever reason and whether or not occasioned by the negligence of the organisers.
- The organisers shall be the owner of the event comprising the Competition and of any intellectual property rights pertaining thereto.
- Any certificate issued by the organisers arising out of the participation of a Nominee in the Competition shall at all times remain the property of the organisers and shall not be transferable or assignable in any way by the Nominee. The organisers may attach any conditions of use or qualifications it sees fit to any such certificate. The Nominee agrees to immediately return any certificate received in connection with the Competition if and when requested to do so by the organisers and acknowledges that no reason for such a request need be furnished by the organisers.
- Certificates will only be issued to persons working within appropriately approved services and facilities.
- These rules shall be governed by the laws of Ireland whose courts shall be courts of exclusive jurisdiction.
- For the purposes of the Competition, the term 'Organisers' refers to the following bodies, which are represented on the Diversity Awards Steering Group Committee. The Irish Hospitality Institute, Fáilte Ireland, The Irish Hotels Federation, SIPTU, The Irish Guild of Sommeliers and The Catering Managers Association.
- Winners of any category are not eligible to win an award in any category for two subsequent years.
