Diversity Awards General Information

Background

The mission of the Diversity Awards is to recognise and celebrate the initiatives, policies and practices taken by both companies / colleges and individuals who embrace equality & diversity within the Irish Hospitality and Tourism Industry.

Categories:

• Individual Hotels
• Hotel Groups
• Restaurant Chains
• Restaurants
• Catering Operations
• Visitor Attractions / Activities / Leisure
• Hospitality Recruitment / Contract Agencies
• Colleges
• Other Organisations in Tourism & Hospitality

Judging Criteria

The judges are looking for:

• Understanding of the issues surrounding equality, diversity & inclusion
• Good development and implementation of policies, procedures & practices that embrace equality & diversity
• Examples of innovation that could be used as best practise models
• Models of learning, development and progression applied in the workplace
• Impact of workplace procedures on retention and employee morale
• Impact of service design and provision on customer retention & satisfaction

Applicants are encouraged to draw on the Irish Hospitality Institute '10 Steps to Equality and Diversity for the Irish Hospitality Sector
There is also a number of practical case studies available to guide you.

Guidelines

Applicants will be short-listed and your organisations may be selected to conduct a site visit. Site Visits will be carried out on December Thursday 2nd / Friday 3rd & Monday 6th. The applicant must be available in there organization / college to conduct this interview. This interview will take approximately 1.5 hours.

The awards ceremony will take place in the Herbert Park Hotel on Thursday 16th December at 6pm. All award winners and short-listed candidates will be invited to attend.

Prizes

Prizes will be presented to each category winner of the Diversity Awards 2010.
